BARREL PATTERN: Barrel 1 and 2 are 45ft apart and to the 3rd barrel is 60ft. The timer is 15ft from Barrel 1 and 2. Please use an object (i.e. cone, bucket) to mark where the timer is if using stopwatch and not an actual timer set. Allow plenty of safe room for stopping. When measuring the distance between barrels be sure to use the center of the barrel NOT the edge of the barrel. Participant must submit a video of the measurements between all three barrels and timer markers for verification purposes.
You must set this pattern to size in order to compete. The dimensions of this pattern are small so it should fit in most arenas/riding areas. Riders MUST TURN BARRELS (pop ups are fine as long as they are upright and regular size). Please do not ride on unsafe ground/conditions and horse must be sound.
Rider is to have someone time & video the barrel run in order to have it qualify. Timers (or marker) must be at the correct time line dimensions; have someone stand at the timer line with a stopwatch/stopwatch app on a phone. The person timing must stop the time when they see the horses nose cross the finish line. When you video your run, you must show proof of the time on the timer/stopwatch. YOU MUST FILM the horse crossing through the start of the run and at the end with the timer showing in the frame so the time can be verified. All runs on stopwatches that only time to the hundredth of a second will have a 9 placed as the thousandth of second (ex. 12.32 will become 12.329). Anyone caught being dishonest with their runs and times will forfeit all entry fees and will be disqualified.
You may enter on more than one horse but please be sure to enter horses on separate entries/videos. Those showing in both Open and Youth may have their Open run carry over to Youth. ENTRIES are to be paid via PayPal through Friends and Family (kayler00@Optonline.net) or Venmo (@KHollborn). Without payment videos will not be accepted. BOTH videos are to be emailed to Kayla Hollborn at email@example.com*. ALL VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ARE FINAL. The IHA Gymkhana committee has the right to refuse any video if non-compliant with rules. All videos will be posted on the IHA GYMKHANA Virtual Barrel Race Event page once payment is received. Results will be posted on July 5th by 12:00p. Winners will have payout sent via paypal or venmo.
ENTRY FORM IS BELOW.
VIDEO(S) MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL TO KAYLA at firstname.lastname@example.org *

It is with great sadness that the IHA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 show season along with all other previously scheduled events at this time (Awards Dinner Dance, Ride In’s, etc). After much discussion, this decision has been made for the safety and in best interest of the membership and volunteers. As a volunteer organization, we do not have the man power to enforce social distancing guidelines, infection control and safety protocols along with running a smooth show. Please keep in mind we utilize a Suffolk County facility therefore we are under strict rules as things begin to open up.
We are however going to keep an eye on the phases in which our governor has put forth. If at some point we can have small group gatherings we have ALL INTENTIONS of looking into hosting clinic(s) and Ride In’s on a smaller scale. Disciplines are also in talks of possibly doing a single show in the fall if allowed.
With that being said, we wanted to offer our members some sort of showing experience. Most disciplines will be offering a Virtual
Horse Show! There will be a small entry fee and this is for IHA members ONLY. Please keep looking back at the FB page and website for more details in the upcoming weeks.
The Board of Directors are still available for any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
We hope everyone understands as this has been a very difficult decision to make. We know so many of you look forward to our events as we do too!
Stay safe, be well & wash your hands!
